Analytics

We use Google Analytics (tag ID: G-00D955QR2R) to understand how visitors use the site. This includes pages visited, time on site, general geographic region, device type, and referral source.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to distinguish unique visitors and sessions. These cookies are governed by Google's privacy policy.

We do not use this data to identify individuals. We use it in aggregate to understand which creatures people find most interesting and how to improve the site.

Cookies

The only cookies set on Cryptid Vault are those placed by Google Analytics. We do not set any first-party cookies ourselves.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use any part of the site.

Field Journal and localStorage

When you visit a creature page, that creature is added to your Field Journal. This is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key cryptid-vault-journal.

localStorage data never leaves your device. It is not transmitted to our servers or to any third party. It is not linked to any account or identity. It exists only in your browser and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings or via the Reset Journal option in the Field Journal.

If you clear your browser data, your field journal is reset. We have no way to recover it.

Email

If you subscribe to Field Notes, our newsletter, your email address is collected for that purpose only. We do not share or sell subscriber emails. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any newsletter email.

Third parties

We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. The only third-party service receiving data about your visit is Google Analytics, as described above.
